Make the finding reproducible
Name the machine, connection and system state. Distinguish a confirmed leak from a normal exhaust, drain cycle or process air use.
Factory planning for water bottling projects
Plant buying and operating worksheets
Treat leak detection, repair and verification as one program. A list of noisy locations is incomplete until the team identifies the system boundary, schedules the repair and checks its effect under comparable operating conditions.
Answer first
Define the air-system boundary and operating state, tag each suspected leak, record its location and estimation method, then prioritize repair by loss, pressure impact and production consequence. Verify the repair locally and compare system flow or energy under matched conditions before claiming savings.

01
A plant may have instrument or service air and a separate higher-pressure bottle-blowing system. Their pressure, quality, control and authorized maintenance procedures can differ. Record them separately and follow the equipment’s approved isolation and depressurization procedure for repairs.
| Survey field | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| System and pressure | A loss estimate depends on its pressure and reference conditions. |
| Operating state | Production, standby and off-shift users create different legitimate demand. |
| Detection method | Instrument setup and access affect what the finding can establish. |
| Location and asset | A technician needs a repeatable location and component identity. |
| Estimate basis | Record flow units, reference conditions and whether loss is measured or estimated. |
02
Use a tag and photograph where permitted, plus the work-order reference. Record inaccessible points as incomplete coverage. Do not infer that an inaccessible section has no leaks.

Consider estimated loss, local pressure effect, production consequence, access and the repair window. The loudest finding may not be the most important.
An instrument’s flow estimate is useful for screening when correctly configured. It does not automatically equal a measured reduction in compressor electrical power.
03
Illustration only: matched non-production tests over ten hours show compressor-system input energy falling from 180 kWh to 140 kWh after a repair group. Pressure settings, legitimate users and operating conditions are held comparable.
| Step | Calculation or check |
|---|---|
| Measured difference | 180 − 140 = 40 kWh over the matched ten-hour window |
| Average power difference | 40 ÷ 10 = 4 kW over that window |
| Conditional annual screen | At an assumed 2,000 comparable hours, 4 × 2,000 = 8,000 kWh |
| Cost screen | Multiply supported saved kWh by the applicable energy charge; examine other tariff effects separately. |
| Limitation | Do not extrapolate this off-shift result to production hours without representative evidence. |
04
A repair can reduce air demand while compressor controls or operating schedules limit the electrical saving. Verify both the repaired location and the system result. Record any authorized control adjustment separately so it is not silently attributed to the leak repair.
Re-test at the relevant operating condition and document remaining findings or replacement needs.
Keep pressures, production demand, hours and active equipment visible. Normalize or explain changes before comparing energy.
Review repeated failures at the same connection, unsuitable components and operating practices. Feed the findings into maintenance and procurement requirements.

The references support the underlying method. The bottling examples and worksheet structures are independently authored planning aids; project requirements determine the final design and acceptance criteria.
Discusses system efficiency and leak management. Actual savings require plant measurements and compressor-control context.
Buyer questions
Only with an appropriate, supported system model. Compressor control, pressure and operating state affect the relationship. Prefer measured system verification.
No. Identify legitimate air users, drains and automatic cycles before interpreting residual demand.
No. Pressure changes require review of equipment requirements and control behavior. Verify the critical points under load.
Move this project question forward
Unrecorded leak walks can repeatedly fix easy points while high-demand production losses and pressure problems remain.
